Meet Peter the Meter — Water Saving Hero
Southern Water’s metering programme has its very own digital poster boy.
Peter the Meter is the star of a video game for mobile phones, as well as an animated short film. Both provide lots of information and advice on saving water, energy and money in a fun and simple way.
The Peter the Meter application, or ‘app’ for short, can be downloaded for free onto Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch from the iTunes App Store. To ensure you get the best experience from this app, it is recommended that you update your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with the latest Apple operating system. This can be easily done via the software update tool on iTunes which can be found under the summary tab.
The app contains 11 games including these below.
Wash the Mop
Wash your hair as quickly as possible in the shower to save water and energy.
Clean the Car
Use a bucket and sponge to clean your motor instead of a hose to save water.
Fill the Drum
Always wash a full load of washing to make the best use of the water and electricity used.
Dive the Depths
Fit a save-a-flush bag in your toilet cistern to save water every time you flush.
Peter the Meter Video
‘A day in the life of a water meter’ sees Peter guiding viewers on a tour of a house to show how water can be used more efficiently.
